GENyO expands analytic capacity for precision medicine

The Center for Genomics and Oncological Research (GENyO) in Granada, Spain faced rapidly rising demand for bioinformatics and large‑scale omics projects that overwhelmed its small cluster and individual workstations. To support precision medicine research and the regional goal of making omics data accessible to clinicians by 2024, GENyO selected Atos and its Atos BullSequana X blade system (powered by Intel® Xeon® processors) as a scalable, high‑performance platform.

Atos deployed the BullSequana X via its Life Sciences Center of Excellence, delivering more than 11 teraflops of compute, 2.25 TB of RAM and 18 compute nodes in just 7U. The Atos solution let researchers run more processes in parallel, handle bigger datasets and get faster results for large projects such as PRECISESADS, while saving rack space and energy—positioning GENyO to scale analyses, apply AI to heterogeneous data, and accelerate precision diagnostics for Andalusia’s ~9 million citizens.
