Case Study: City of Eindhoven achieves real-time incident response and safer streets with Atos CityPulse

Eindhoven CityPulse using big data for real time incident response management

The City of Eindhoven partnered with Atos on the CityPulse pilot to tackle safety and crowd-management challenges on Stratumseind, the city’s busiest nightlife street that draws 15–20,000 visitors each weekend. Eindhoven wanted a way to use big data in real time to forecast, detect and de‑escalate incidents and make the public space safer and more enjoyable.

Atos built the CityPulse solution—using Intel technology and multiple data inputs (visitor counts, sound levels and social media)—to aggregate and analyse live signals, automatically or manually adjust street lighting, and trigger dashboard alerts into the police control room. The Atos deployment let authorities focus police resources where needed, reduce repair and clean‑up costs, lower alcohol‑related hospital incidents, and boost business and tourism by creating a safer, more sociable environment.
