Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England, needed to transform how its 3,500 colleagues work and collaborate to deliver a more targeted, responsive approach to regulation. Facing a largely remote workforce and tight deadlines, CQC engaged Atos to migrate the organisation to Microsoft Office 365 (including Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online and Yammer) while minimizing disruption, driving adoption and delivering cultural as well as technical change.
Atos combined a best-practice technical rollout with robust change management—running a pilot, integrating CQC’s internal engagement and digital teams, and delivering targeted online and onsite training and communications (including personalised support via Teams). The migration was completed for all 3,500 users by the end of November, and after three months adoption reached 88% for OneDrive and Teams and 87% for SharePoint Online; benefits included lower infrastructure costs, reduced travel through mobile working, faster access to documents, and easier real-time collaboration.
