Acea SpA (through its energy subsidiary Acea Energia), a leading Italian multiutility, needed to modernize its billing and credit management as deregulation and digital-native competitors exposed slow, capacity-constrained processes. Its monthly UBIP (billing‑invoicing‑printing) cycle was taking about five days from meter readings to printed bills, choking cash flow and growth. Acea engaged Atos to upgrade its SAP Utilities (IS‑U) environment from ECC to S/4HANA to accelerate meter‑to‑cash operations.
Atos acted as system integrator (working with SAP Digital Business Services) to convert development, test and production systems using agile, test‑driven methods and a focused technical, ABAP and functional team; data migration was completed over a single weekend with no downtime.
