Transforming Defra’s Digital Workplace with Sustainable IT Solutions

Defra, the UK Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, needed to improve the digital experience for 30,000 employees while simplifying end-user services split across two IT providers. Working with Atos, Defra sought a more efficient, cost-conscious workplace service that would also strengthen sustainability across its digital environment, including end-user support and device lifecycle management.

Atos implemented an end-to-end digital workplace solution built around analytics, automation, DEX tools, and sustainable device management, including refurbished and remanufactured laptops through a “refurbished by default” approach. The result is a more proactive, inclusive, and eco-friendly service with improved user experience, end-to-end ownership, carbon and e-waste reduction, and cost savings for Defra.
