Sussex Police uses analytics and data science to enhance community safety and support operational efficiency

Sussex Police faced the challenge of utilizing its vast but siloed data to improve operational efficiency and community safety. They required a way to transform this data into accessible, real-time analytics for frontline officers, moving towards a data-driven approach known as precision policing. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor Atos to develop new performance dashboards and business intelligence capabilities.

Atos implemented a solution by first creating live dashboards that integrated disparate datasets, providing an unprecedented view of demand and contact center operations. This gave officers the ability to visualize data in near-real time, pinpoint dangerous offenders, and better target resources. The results were highly impactful, with the new system receiving approximately 1,400 views per day and enabling dramatically improved efficiency through self-service analytics, earning the Chief Constable’s Commendation for transforming the force's capabilities.
