National Center for Drug Free Sport - Customer Case Study

National Center for Drug Free Sport, a provider of drug testing for major sports organizations like the NCAA and NFL, needed a more reliable, secure, and efficient way to manage complex testing workflows across its worldwide network of collectors. Atomic Object was brought in to replace DFS’s aging SCAN 2 system with a modern mobile and web solution built around the SCAN 3 iPad app.

Atomic Object implemented SCAN 3 as a native iPad app plus an administrative web app and API, using technologies like RubyMotion, ReactiveCocoa, Couchbase Lite, Grape, Ember JS, and CouchDB. The result virtually eliminated collection error, improved data security, enabled faster sample collection and reporting, and helped DFS add new clients and increase testing volume, with no critical system failures in the first year.
