A ATOM Case Study

Preview of the OPKIXone Case Study

OPKIXone launches the world’s smallest wearable camera with ATOM, around the size of two sugar cubes

The customer, OPKIXone, an aspiring start-up, aimed to disrupt the consumer electronics market by creating the world's smallest wearable camera system. Their challenge was to design and engineer the entire product, including a miniature camera and its "Egg" charging case, to meet aggressive size, manufacturing, and durability goals within a highly compressed timeframe. They selected vendor ATOM to act as the Prime Development Lead on this first-to-market solution.

ATOM leveraged its micro-engineering expertise to design a complex rigid flex PCB and an ultra-thin aluminum unibody housing for the camera, while also creating a compact, modular electronics package for the curved Egg. Utilizing high-volume CNC manufacturing techniques, ATOM achieved what was deemed impossible by many: the OPKIXone camera, a miniature high-definition device about the size of two sugar cubes, which allows users to record, edit, and share videos from a wearable form factor.
