Preview of the OPKIXone Case Study

OPKIXone launches the world’s smallest wearable camera, about the size of two sugar cubes, with ATOM

Aspiring start-up OPKIXone had a vision to disrupt consumer electronics by creating the world’s smallest wearable camera but faced the immense challenge of designing the entire system to meet aggressive size constraints, manufacturing goals, and a compressed timeframe. They selected vendor ATOM to act as the Prime Development Lead to engineer this first-to-market solution, leveraging ATOM's expertise in miniaturization, Design for Manufacturing, and wearable technology.

The solution implemented by ATOM involved extensive micro-engineering to design a complex rigid flex PCB and an ultra-thin aluminum unibody housing for the miniature camera, while also developing a complex modular electronics package for the "Egg" charger. The result, achieved by vendor ATOM, was the successful creation of the OPKIXOne, a miniature high-definition camera around the size of two sugar cubes that was once deemed impossible by industry experts.
