Kiva, a San Francisco–based nonprofit that connects more than 1.5 million lenders and has raised over $900 million for entrepreneurs worldwide, had 100+ employees and 400+ volunteers working across 80+ countries. Teams relied on disconnected tools and email, which made global collaboration, knowledge sharing, and project tracking difficult.

Kiva standardized on Atlassian—Jira for project tracking, Confluence for documentation and collaboration, and Hipchat for real-time communication—bringing teams online within a week. Confluence centralized partner policies and project work, Jira integrated with Hipchat to speed support resolution, and engineers and product teams gained shared visibility, enabling faster software delivery and more efficient, scalable collaboration toward Kiva’s mission.
