Indeed, launched in 2004 and now the world’s leading job search engine with offices in 13 locations, Indeed faced growing process and coordination challenges as it scaled. Its Program Management team, which had already improved Engineering velocity with customized Jira workflows, was tasked with applying that same approach to nontechnical teams to resolve enterprise-wide inefficiencies.

The team implemented Jira Core with simple, custom issue types and workflows across Marketing, Legal, and HR—managing design requests, flagging items for legal review, and using issue types to track personnel changes—while Engineering continued to use Jira Software. This produced consistent oversight, improved tracking and visibility, and greater efficiency across business teams, with Engineering delivering faster as well.
