Global Health Exchange Standardizes on Atlassian for Secure, Agile Development

Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX) is a cloud-based trading exchange that connects hospitals and suppliers to lower costs and improve operational efficiency. In 2014 GHX set out to adopt Git and agile across its 70+ engineering team but required stronger user management and security controls to meet strict healthcare regulations — public Git hosting like GitHub was not acceptable because code needed to remain behind the firewall.

GHX standardized on Atlassian, using Bitbucket Server to secure and manage source code and adding Jira Software, Bamboo, and Confluence (with training from Atlassian partner cPrime) to enable branch permissions, merge checks, automated CI and integrated workflows. The result was faster, more controlled development and company-wide adoption of collaboration and service management tools, with improved processes, productivity, and the security posture required for regulatory compliance.
