OceanX, a Paramus, NJ–based technology platform that helps brands sell directly to consumers through subscription and membership services, faced a fragmented workflow environment in 2013: nine different task-management systems across departments. VP of Information Systems Brandon Cipes led a companywide initiative to replace those disparate tools and standardize on a single platform.
OceanX rolled out Atlassian tools — Jira Software, Jira Service Desk, Confluence, Bitbucket and Bamboo — across engineering, product management, marketing and facilities to plan, track, document and automate development and operations. The result: release cycles shrank from two to three weeks to daily deployments, processes became faster and more efficient, and cross-team transparency and collaboration significantly improved.
