A Atlassian Confluence Case Study
EMC Insurance Companies, a century-old insurer with 2,600 users, faced the challenge of modernizing a complex Atlassian Data Center environment—heavy app usage, inflated user counts, technical debt and the need to reduce maintenance and outages while adopting a cloud-first strategy. They needed a migration that minimized risk, kept systems available for technical and non-technical teams across the company, and preserved service continuity.
Working with solution partner Mumo Systems and Atlassian, EMC executed an “optimize and shift” plan: four months of cleanup and validation (including removing 40,000 inactive users and unused plugins), targeted testing with power users, and a weekend cutover. The result was a seamless migration with zero downtime and no backlog, freed-up IT capacity for planned work and innovation, improved security via automatic updates, and a smoother ongoing service experience.
