Xero, a Wellington-based developer of cloud accounting software with over 1,450 employees, experienced rapid hypergrowth that outpaced its homegrown development tools. Xero rolled out Jira Software and Confluence company-wide, using flexible Jira workflows, global transitions and Marketplace plug-ins to balance standardization with team autonomy. Confluence became the central knowledge base and internal blog for onboarding (as many as three new hires a day), giving developers a repeatable collaboration framework that scaled with growth while reinforcing Xero’s core values.
