A Atlassian Confluence Case Study
Atlassian partnered with Technische Universität München (TUM), a leading science and technology university in Munich, to help two software engineering instructors move beyond large, lecture-focused classes and create hands-on, employment-oriented courses. The challenge was scaling practical, client-based projects for about 100 students while keeping reviews and progress tracking manageable.
Using Bitbucket, Jira Software, and Confluence, the instructors organized the course so each student worked in feature branches, submitted exercises via pull requests, and were supported by a Kanban board and student assistants for distributed review. The approach boosted motivation and collaboration, produced 11 mobile projects, 72 sprints, over 4,300 commits, 1,100 pull requests and 130 customer downloads, and established Confluence as a permanent documentation and knowledge base.
