OceanX, a Paramus, NJ–based technology platform that helps brands sell directly to consumers through product memberships and subscription services, faced a fractured workflow in 2013 with nine different task‑tracking systems across departments. VP of Information Systems Brandon Cipes led a plan to replace those disparate tools and standardize the company’s processes.

OceanX deployed Atlassian tools—Jira Software, Confluence, Jira Service Desk, Bitbucket and Bamboo—across engineering, product, marketing and facilities to unify planning, collaboration and automated builds/deployments. The change cut release cycles from two–three weeks to daily releases, sped testing and iteration, and fostered a more open, efficient and collaborative company culture.
