Global Health Exchange Standardizes On Atlassian for Secure, Agile Development

Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX) is a cloud‑based trading exchange that connects hospitals and suppliers to reduce costs and improve care. In 2014 GHX set out to adopt Git and agile across its 70+ person engineering organization but needed tools that met strict healthcare security and user‑management requirements—off‑prem solutions like GitHub were unacceptable and plain Git lacked necessary controls.

GHX standardized on Bitbucket Server to keep code behind the firewall and enforce branch permissions, merge checks, and other controls, and rolled out Jira Software, Bamboo, Confluence and Jira Service Desk (with training from Atlassian partner cPrime). The integrated Atlassian toolchain enabled continuous integration and clearer workflows, boosted productivity, accelerated development of supply‑chain software, and extended collaboration and service management across HR, IT, finance and executives while meeting regulatory security needs.
