Case Study: Red Giant achieves improved collaboration and visibility in distributed development with Atlassian Bitbucket

A Atlassian Bitbucket Case Study

Atlassian helps distributed teams at Red Giant stay in sync

Red Giant, a Portland-based maker of filmmaking and motion-graphics software used by independent filmmakers and major studios, needed a better way to coordinate a distributed development team and manage code for more than 60 products and modules. To speed development and support collaboration across time zones, they moved from SVN to Git.

Red Giant adopted the Atlassian stack—Confluence to write specs, Jira to create backlogs and epics, and Bitbucket to host Git repositories—allowing developers to work via browser, CLI, or a desktop client and follow a GitFlow workflow with 60+ active branches. The result is greater visibility across the software lifecycle, easier cross-referencing of specs, issues, and code, simpler branch management, and improved planning, communication, and collaboration so the team can focus on building effects software.
