A Atlantis Computing Case Study
Mid Coast Hospital, a 92‑bed independent hospital in Brunswick, Maine, faced poor desktop performance, high support overhead and limited remote access just as it was opening a new urgent care facility. With only about 90 days to decide and deploy a solution—and little in‑house VDI experience—the IT team needed to cut PC downtime, improve remote access and user experience, reduce support and lower overall desktop costs.
They implemented non‑persistent VMware View linked‑clone desktops on Cisco UCS, using Atlantis ILIO for storage optimization and Liquidware Labs ProfileUnity FlexApp for user personalization, with Dell Wyse zero clients at the edge. The deployment cut required storage by about 90%, eliminated boot‑storm issues, sped application launch and scaling (70 linked clones per server in ~12 minutes), reduced operational costs and improved reliability and remote access, delivering rapid ROI compared with traditional PCs.
