Insurance agency ensures peak performance with atlantis hyperscale

Marshall & Sterling Insurance, an employee‑owned firm founded in 1864 with 26 locations across the continental U.S. and the U.S. Virgin Islands, needed to roll out 300 additional virtual desktops while avoiding large capital and licensing costs and fixing poor end‑user performance. Their largely virtualized environment (Citrix/XenDesktop on VMware) couldn’t scale without buying many more hosts, VMware licenses and appliances.

They deployed a single Atlantis HyperScale all‑flash hyperconverged appliance (2TB RAM, 12TB effective), eliminating the purchase of three competing appliances and extra VMware licenses. The team provisioned 300 desktops in about three weeks, achieved login times of roughly 15 seconds (2–3x faster), reduced power and hardware costs by converting users to thin clients, and gained capacity to run up to 400 desktops from one appliance.
