A Atlantis Computing Case Study
Kelsey‑Seybold Clinic is a large Houston‑area ambulatory network with 20 sites, more than 375 physicians and roughly a half‑million patients (about 1 million visits annually). Facing rapid growth in specialties, patient visits and data from its Epic EMR, the clinic needed higher‑performance, cost‑effective compute, storage and desktop virtualization to keep EMR interactions responsive for clinicians and remove barriers for patients.
Working with IBM and partners, Kelsey‑Seybold deployed IBM Flex System, IBM FlashSystem 840, SAN Volume Controller, other IBM storage platforms, Atlantis ILIO and Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp. The integrated VDI and storage optimization solution supports more than 3,700 virtual desktops per FlashSystem, achieved about 90% data reduction and delivered roughly four times better total cost of ownership versus competing all‑flash arrays, while speeding EMR access, reducing wait times and providing scalable infrastructure across its 20 sites.
