Atlantis Solves the Virtual Desktop Storage Challenge for Swiss Bank

Frankfurter Bankgesellschaft (Switzerland) Ltd., a private bank in Zurich managing over 7 billion CHF in assets, wanted to roll out Citrix XenDesktop VDI to provide secure, centrally managed remote access. A 30‑user pilot suffered severe I/O bottlenecks and poor performance, and the bank found that buying additional SAN or SSD storage to fix the problem would make the project prohibitively expensive.

The bank deployed Atlantis optimization software on each server alongside the pooled XenDesktop VMs and continued to use its existing Hitachi SAN. Atlantis immediately improved desktop performance, enabled the deployment to scale without new storage purchases, and cut storage cost per desktop from $2,223 to $150 (a 93% reduction) while reducing required storage capacity by about 80%.
