Atlantis computing maakt beheer van meer dan 600 virtuele desktops bij veenendaal eenvoudig en kostenefficient

The Municipality of Veenendaal (population ~63,000) needed a cost-efficient, easy-to-manage way to support a growing set of delegated tasks and a new flexible-working policy. Key challenges included IO optimization and reducing SAN storage, improving virtual desktop performance, and simplifying desktop administration while delivering persistent, location-independent workspaces for staff.

By deploying Atlantis software-defined storage (Atlantis ILIO) with VMware and Fusion-IO, Veenendaal rolled out over 600 persistent virtual desktops, accelerated desktop provisioning, and cut storage needs by roughly 80% (from 18 TB to about 3 TB). The solution lowered SAN IOPS, simplified management, and enabled broad remote working—around 400 employees have access and 20–30 work from home daily—delivering the required availability and cost savings.
