A Atlantis Computing Case Study
Catalyst Housing Ltd, a leading UK housing association with 21,000 homes, had long used VDI to give staff flexible access across 40 sites, but storage performance was holding them back. Migrating to Windows 7 and Office 2013 exposed severe issues — slow logins, boot storms and high latency — that prevented updates and new applications and degraded the user experience.
After testing hardware and software options, Catalyst deployed Atlantis software‑defined storage (500 USX VDI licenses, 2TB USX) and installed it in a day. The result: up to 96% lower latency (from 5–25 ms to under 1 ms), 10x the IOPS per user (30 → 300), 85% reclaimed storage through compression, a 20% lower cost than alternatives, and a scalable platform supporting 95% of 650 employees with markedly improved performance and user experience.
