A Atlan Case Study
Brainly, the global education app serving hundreds of millions of users across 35 countries, needed a better way to manage growing volumes of data across its decentralized product teams. As the company moved toward a data mesh model, it faced slow, manual back-and-forth for data access and a need to improve ownership, stewardship, and collaboration. Brainly selected Atlan as its data catalog and active metadata management layer after multiple proofs of concept.
With Atlan, Brainly onboarded data sets from both its legacy and new platforms, using the vendor’s catalog to support migration planning, identify source systems, and trace downstream dependencies. Ten domain teams now use Atlan as the central hub for data discovery and sharing, helping people default to the catalog instead of lengthy coordination cycles. The case study does not provide hard numeric ROI, but Brainly reported clearer ownership, better cross-team access to context, and stronger support for federated governance with Atlan.
