A Atlan Case Study
Docker, a platform that helps developers build, share, and run modern applications, needed a better way to support its growing data team and move beyond a one-person, ad hoc data operation. As the team expanded across engineering, analytics, marketing, sales, finance, and product functions, Docker wanted to reduce dependence on “favorite data people” and improve documentation, discovery, and trust in data across its stack of Snowflake, dbt, and Looker.
Docker selected Atlan’s active metadata platform to centralize data knowledge, surface dbt descriptions in Atlan, and support self-service analytics through integrations like Looker and dbt. With Atlan, Docker aims to standardize data workflows, help employees find certified data assets and trusted definitions on their own, and free data professionals to focus on modeling and insights; the case study does not provide specific numerical results yet, but it highlights improved confidence, stronger support, and a clear path to scaling data operations.
