Delhivery’s Learnings from Implementing a Data Catalog

Delhivery, India’s leading fulfillment platform for digital commerce, was managing massive data growth—over 1.2 TB per day and nearly 60,000 data events per second. As data ownership became distributed across hundreds of microservices, the company struggled with data discovery, context, and onboarding, and needed a more intuitive way for technical and non-technical teams to find and understand data. After evaluating commercial catalogs and trying to build its own solution with Apache Atlas and Amundsen, Delhivery looked for a better product.

Delhivery chose Atlan, a modern unified data workspace, for its strong search, collaboration features, intuitive UX, and open API-based extensibility. With Atlan, Delhivery was able to provide a more user-friendly data catalog that improved discoverability, encouraged collaboration, and helped teams onboard faster; the company noted that building a comparable solution internally would have taken six or seven people and up to two years. Atlan also supported workshops and ongoing adoption, helping Delhivery move from a shelved internal catalog to a workable self-service data platform.
