Mast General Store, a family- and employee-owned retailer with 11 stores, wanted a better way to help online shoppers find products across a broad catalog. Its native ecommerce platform was not returning relevant results on its own, so the company looked for a search and merchandising specialist. Athos Commerce was chosen to support on-site search, merchandising, personalization, and insights.

Athos Commerce gave Mast General Store tools for custom synonyms and term redirects, product display rules, personalized recommendations, badges, boost rules, and inline banners. After implementation, 14% of shoppers used search between November 2021 and November 2022, and those sessions drove 40% of all orders and 43% of overall revenue. John Jordan said the dashboards and reporting saved hours of manual labor, and search users were 4.3 times more likely to purchase and 5.4 times more valuable than non-search shoppers.
