The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago, a chapter serving 43 counties across Illinois, needed a better way to manage intake, case management, and group program tracking as its services and staff responsibilities grew more complex. Before adopting Athena Software’s Penelope, the organization relied on carbon paper and later an Access database to capture client information and program activity.

Using Athena Software’s Penelope since 2011, the foundation centralized client records, case notes, and attendance tracking for camps, therapy programs, support groups, and other services. The system helped staff quickly see a client’s history and supported service delivery to more than 500 people through groups each year, while the organization also reported 4,301 counseling, case management, and advocacy instances and 10,664 recipients of education programs in 2015.
