Deltassist Family and Community Services Society, a nonprofit in Delta, British Columbia, had been using an outdated MS-DOS-based client system and needed a more user-friendly way to capture client demographics, service details, and case information. They chose Athena Software’s Penelope case management software to simplify data entry, reduce duplication for clients, and support staff adoption with an easier interface.
With Athena Software’s Penelope, Deltassist gained a flexible case management platform that evolved from basic records into a robust system for tracking client activities, billing, and service workflows. The built-in smart forms allowed staff to customize intake, referral, and service-plan documents without extra vendor support, while training enabled in-house experts to manage changes. The organization served 805 individuals, 261 families, handled over 18,000 phone calls, and managed nearly 1,300 information and referral inquiries in 2014–15, showing the scale of impact supported by Athena Software.
