Alzheimer Society of Brant, Haldimand Norfolk, Hamilton Halton is a Canadian organization serving people with dementia and their carers across seven locations in Ontario. The agency was looking for a more intuitive case management system to replace an older database that was difficult to use and lacked key functionality such as templates, visible caseload tracking, tasks, reminders, and a pre-enrollment/wait list feature. Athena Software’s Penelope was selected to address these challenges.

Athena Software implemented Penelope in March 2017, with the organization going live in June 2017 after a well-planned onboarding process. The new system gave staff a user-friendly interface, smart forms, automated tasks and reminders, caseload visibility on the home page, and easier access to pre-enrollment lists for starting groups and activities. While no hard metrics were provided, the organization reported that Penelope made life easier for staff and said they were very happy with Athena Software and had recommended it to other Alzheimer Societies.
