Multi Store Retail Company struggled to make good hiring decisions from an “off the street” applicant pool that ranged from unskilled laborers to managers, and suffered turnover of over 100% annually. To address this, the retailer used Athena Assessment’s Athena Quotient (AQ) to evaluate applicants’ judgment and screen candidates before hiring.

Athena Assessment implemented AQ-based hiring zones and the retailer restricted hires to the green “Recommended” zone; within 18 months turnover fell from over 100% to less than 20%. Athena Assessment’s screening also coincided with fewer customer complaints, increased profits, improved coworker relations, and most of the remaining turnover being amicable.
