The Medical City - Customer Case Study

The Medical City, a major tertiary healthcare provider in the Philippines, needed a future-proof video distribution system for its new Center for Advanced Skills, Simulation and Training Innovation (CASSTI). The challenge was to create a modular, latency-free network to reliably transmit high-resolution video from various simulation and surgical sources to multiple observation and classroom locations over distances of up to hundreds of meters, with seamless switching between feeds being a critical requirement.

ATEN implemented a VanCryst solution built around a VM1600 modular matrix switch. This system integrated various HDMI and DVI video extenders to distribute signals without degradation. The key benefit was ATEN's Seamless Switching technology, which eliminated critical video loss during feed changes. The result was a robust and economical infrastructure that allows students and lecturers to smoothly switch between video sources, enhancing the training experience for minimally-invasive surgery.
