How A.Team and Showrunner Built an Award-Winning OS For Virtual Production

Showrunner, founded by Shane Snow and co‑founders, set out to create the world’s first single operating system for virtual film production to connect cameras, lights, Unreal Engine, media, servers and audio into one interface. Confronted with the film industry’s waterfall workflows, siloed tools, and the technical challenge of synchronizing disparate on‑set devices and protocols, Showrunner engaged A.Team to quickly assemble a specialist squad to build an MVP and prove the concept.

A.Team put together a cross‑disciplinary group (design, Unreal Engine, front‑end) embedded with Showrunner’s product team to triage protocols, integrate devices, and enable real‑time collaboration. In one year A.Team helped take Showrunner from 0-to-1: the OS now controls lights, cameras, virtual backgrounds and audio from any device, reduced on‑set inefficiencies and costs, and accelerated time-to-decision. The results include $1M ARR in the first year, a “Product of the Year” award at NAB, a global partnership with Vū, and helped Showrunner scale (and raise $9.8M) as a leading smart-studio platform.
