T-Mobile Automates PII Protection on Thousands of Databases

T-Mobile, one of the largest U.S. wireless carriers, needed an enterprise-wide data transformation to secure data, maintain regulatory compliance, reduce costs, and better predict customer behavior. It partnered with Ataccama and used Ataccama ONE to support a large-scale data scanning and governance initiative across a highly complex, distributed environment.

Ataccama implemented an automated, closed-loop data scanning solution that continuously discovered, classified, and protected sensitive data across more than 22,000 databases and 5,000 applications. The results included $350 million in cost avoidance and consumer protection, $50 million in savings from data reuse and system reduction, and $25 million in savings from faster AI data preparation, while also increasing scanning speed to 800,000 tables in 24 hours.
