A Ataccama Case Study
The North American Rights Management Organization, representing 150,000+ songwriters, composers, music publishers and visual artists, struggled with an aging legacy system that siloed roughly 40 million master records (and fragmented datasets across 25 million musical works, 8 million AV works and 8 million interested parties). Poor performance, inconsistent data quality, and the inability to map song-play transactions from streaming channels to core master data meant slow, batch-based royalty calculations and growing operational risk. The organization engaged Ataccama to modernize its data platform using a Master Data Management (MDM) solution.
Ataccama implemented an MDM hub with a canonical attribute model, ingesting data from five source systems via batch and streaming (integrating with MS Azure messaging via JMS), exposing golden records through SOAP/REST, and building a master layer supporting 600 million records (1.5 billion records in the MDM). The deployment delivered rule-driven, real-time data quality checks, eliminated legacy performance bottlenecks, powered fast membership-portal searches, and accelerated royalty processing so payments are made within days of plays rather than in monthly or quarterly batches.
