The European Railway Operating Company, a freight transporter undergoing company-wide digitalization and IT refresh, needed a reliable, centralized way to manage reference data and replace labor-intensive processes—merging Excel sheets, running SQL scripts, and maintaining duplicate files across systems. They engaged Ataccama and its Ataccama ONE platform to provide a single source of truth with a user-friendly interface, enforced validation, and automated data propagation to consuming systems.

Ataccama implemented Ataccama ONE as an organization-wide reference-data hub (coexistence-style MDM), now supporting 400+ codebooks/tables, 500+ relationships, 1.2 million records, 15 consuming systems and 260+ users; codebooks grew from 100 to 400+ and consuming systems from 10 to 15 during the project. With Ataccama, data is validated by business rules, approved by data stewards, referential integrity is enforced, and changes are automatically propagated—enabling reliable capacity and route planning and powering a multilingual online freight-car catalog.
