A AT&T Cybersecurity Case Study
Bank of Marin, a $1.9 billion community bank based in Novato, CA with 21 branches, needed greater network visibility and a host-based intrusion detection system (HIDS). After evaluating vendors like Palo Alto, FireEye and Carbon Black, the security team found commercial options too costly and searched for a more affordable, comprehensive solution.
They implemented AlienVault Unified Security Management (USM), which bundled HIDS with asset discovery, vulnerability assessment, behavioral monitoring and SIEM, and used a five-day training to speed deployment. USM gave the team much better visibility, reduced time spent investigating anomalies—especially during busy retail months—helped prioritize threats via the Open Threat Exchange, and delivered strong functionality at a lower total cost.
