U.S. Transportation Provider migrates 5,000+ mainframe programs to AWS with Astadia

A U.S. transportation provider, a state-owned public transportation system, faced significant challenges with its large and complex IBM mainframe environment. With a shortage of skilled mainframe engineers and a need to increase agility and reduce costs, the organization chose Astadia to migrate its legacy systems, which included nearly 5,000 Natural programs and over 3 million lines of code, to the AWS cloud.

Using its FastTrack Modernization approach, Astadia automated the conversion of the legacy code to C# and migrated databases to AWS SQL. This solution provided the customer with a fully functional production environment on AWS, resulting in increased agility, lower costs, and improved operational efficiencies. The migration also eased hiring challenges by moving away from reliance on legacy mainframe skill sets and future-proofed the organization's technology stack.
