Alpitour World modernizes 7 million lines of COBOL in 16 months with Astadia

The customer, Alpitour World, is a leading European tourism group facing the challenge of modernizing its legacy mainframe systems to reduce costs, mitigate risk, and enable future business agility. To achieve this, Alpitour World partnered with vendor Astadia and Kyndryl for a large-scale refactoring project involving millions of lines of COBOL code.

Astadia implemented its FastTrack tooling and process to automatically convert the mainframe applications to Java and migrate the data to Amazon Web Services. The project was delivered on time and on budget, resulting in a full transition to a modern, cloud-based environment for Alpitour World. This provided enhanced scalability, maintainability, and operational efficiency while eliminating business disruption.
