Case Study: California Polytechnic State University achieves first place in ASC Virtual Design and Construction with Assemble Systems

Cal Poly Wins ASC Student Competition with Assemble

California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) needed a better way to tackle the ASC Virtual Design and Construction competition, where students had to quickly produce accurate estimates and schedules for a complex 10-story office building. To prepare, Cal Poly joined the Assemble Academic Program and used Assemble Systems’ BIM data management platform to work with the Revit model and solve real-world construction management problems under tight time constraints.

Using Assemble Systems, the Cal Poly team isolated partitions, curtain walls, steel framing, and access flooring with filtering, visibility, and color override tools, then generated quantities and visualizations to support their estimate and schedule. The result was a full estimate in under two hours and first place in the Virtual Design and Construction category, with judges also recognizing the team for going above and beyond in their presentation.
