Natural Resources Wales improves flood forecasting with Aspire Systems using data from over 200 locations

Natural Resources Wales, a government agency, needed to replace its static and aging online weather forecast service, which was critical for its duty officers monitoring flood risks. They engaged Aspire Systems to develop a bespoke web service that could handle large volumes of data and provide constant availability.

Aspire Systems developed a .NET-based Flood Forecast Web Service, powered by the world's first cloud-hosted Deltares Delft-FEWS platform on Microsoft Azure. The solution processes data from over 200 locations, integrates third-party documents, and presents it through a flexible interface. This provided duty officers with a complete, real-time overview of flood forecasts, improving decision-making and community safety. The project was also a finalist for a Wales Technology Award.
