Ship-to-Shore High Speed Transfer Solution for Offshore Marine Services

A leading marine services company that performs offshore seismic measurement and HPC analysis needed to replace expensive, slow physical transfers (helicopter and courier) and enable rapid access to large field data sets and operational files from vessels with variable satellite and WiMAX connectivity. The challenge was to move bulk data and deliver critical documents and media reliably to crews so early shore-based analysis and extended remote operations could proceed without returning to port.

The company deployed Aspera FASP servers on shore and Aspera clients (Connect and browser plug‑in) on about 30 vessels, using watch‑folder automation and ascp scripting to send files as they are generated. Transfers sustain the full satellite capacity (6–8 Mbps) and automatically ramp to 40+ Mbps in WiMAX zones, provide resumable transfers and guaranteed data integrity, secure in transit and at rest, and eliminated costly physical transport while enabling longer, more efficient offshore missions.
