Powering File-Based Syndication System With High-Speed Transfers

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Australia’s national public broadcaster, needed to replace a legacy satellite syndication system with a file-based workflow that could ingest, prioritize and distribute high-quality content from a single Sydney hub to play-out centers across the country. Key requirements included automated ingestion from Grass Valley servers, centralized monitoring and control, fast wide-area transfers, on‑the‑fly bandwidth management, and the ability to handle urgent priority jobs while lowering operating costs.

ABC deployed Aspera technology—Enterprise Server, Point-to-Point clients, the SDK and Web Service APIs—to build a centralized dashboard and automated syndication platform. The solution enables unlimited simultaneous, large-file transfers, programmatic queue and bandwidth control, and push delivery to remote sites in Hobart, Darwin, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Canberra. Results included streamlined workflows, faster reliable content delivery, improved visibility and job control, and reduced distribution costs.
