A Aspera Case Study
Phoenix Television, a Hong Kong-based broadcaster whose InfoNews Channel reaches roughly 300 million viewers, struggled with slow, unreliable and costly delivery of large video files from 15 bureaus worldwide. Daily inbound content averaged 500GB, and existing FTP transfers were insecure and inefficient while leased lines were expensive and could degrade high‑quality files, making timely delivery for breaking news and long‑form programming impractical.
Phoenix integrated Aspera (Connect Server, Point‑to‑Point clients, Console and SDK) into its existing workflow to enable FASP-powered transfers that maximize bandwidth and tolerate latency and packet loss. The deployment delivered dramatic improvements—1GB from New York to Hong Kong in under 15 minutes on a 10Mbps link (vs. over 4 hours by FTP), 10GB moved in 2 minutes on a 1Gbps link (vs. >20 hours by FTP), centralized transfer control, elimination of costly leased‑line investments, and improved programming quality and competitive advantage.
