Fios, a Portland-based eDiscovery firm, needed to move large sets of electronic legal data (100 GB+) quickly and securely between coast-to-coast transfer sites and its primary data center. Reliance on costly overnight couriers and slow, latency-prone SFTP transfers caused delays, unreliable bandwidth use and risked losing critical metadata like date/time stamps required for legal evidence.

Fios deployed Aspera Point-to-Point and Aspera Desktop Clients over a 1 Gbps WAN (initially allocating 300 Mbps) to achieve secure, high-speed transfers that fully utilize available bandwidth and preserve file metadata. The change cut a typical 100 GB delivery from ~10 hours by courier to about 1 hour, eliminated shipping costs, improved reliability and scalability, and let Fios pass time and cost savings on to clients.
