Distributing Promotional Web Content To Martial Arts Fans Around The World

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the world’s leading mixed martial arts promoter, needed to rapidly move high-resolution promotional video from global, often low-bandwidth venues into a cloud-based workflow for scale-out transcoding and distribution to web, mobile and gaming platforms. Legacy FTP transfers were slow, unreliable and risked missing tight publishing deadlines, so UFC required a fast, secure transfer solution to ensure content could be edited, transcoded and published in time for events.

UFC deployed Aspera On Demand with the Connect browser plug-in on AWS to send content directly to S3, trigger parallel cloud transcoding and deliver device-specific assets via CloudFront in an automated pipeline. The change enabled full bandwidth utilization with transfers hundreds of times faster than FTP, 50–90% monthly storage savings, eliminated infrastructure investments and greatly improved the timely availability of promotional content across devices.
