A Aspera Case Study
DIRECTV Latin America, the leading satellite TV provider for more than 9 million customers across Latin America and the Caribbean, operates six broadcast facilities on two continents. As HD became the broadcast standard, their tape-based workflow—receiving, editing, dubbing and shipping physical tapes—grew slow and expensive, and they needed a secure, file-based solution able to handle very large (65–85 GB) video files.
DTVLA deployed Aspera’s patented fasp technology so global content providers can upload at maximum speed to Aspera servers, the central editor in El Segundo downloads into Final Cut, edits and re-uploads, and every production center then pulls the same file—eliminating dubs. The move streamlined collaboration, increased efficiency and productivity five-fold, and reduced HD tape usage by 35–40%.
