Aspera Mobile Client Application Allows Reporters To Send Content From Mobile Devices To MTV3’s News Desk With Ease

MTV3, a Finnish general-entertainment broadcaster, needed to speed up and simplify mobile news gathering as reporters and viewers increasingly supplied HD video, high-resolution images and audio from smartphones and tablets. The existing workflow left gaps—some phones couldn’t upload content—hindering rapid, reliable ingest and limiting the channel’s ability to leverage citizen journalism and cover breaking stories.

MTV3 extended its long-standing Aspera deployment (Connect Server, SDK and Console) with Aspera’s Mobile Client (faspex) for iOS and Android, enabling high-speed, predictable uploads and automated ingest from mobile devices. The solution closed the upload gap, gave the newsroom end-to-end control and monitoring of transfers, and significantly improved the speed and reliability of getting mobile content into the news workflow.
